プロジェクト概要

European forests face imminent climate risks as they largely consist of monocultures heavily affected by bark beetles, droughts, and storms.
More than half a million hectares of forest in Germany have died since 2018. And it's not just Germany – more than 60% of the trees in all of Europe are in danger today due to climate change.
Tackling this challenge requires turning endangered monocultures into climate-resilient, biodiverse forests - a process called ‘forest adaptation’.
In the climate project “Luckaitz Valley”, Pina Earth transforms 632 hectares made up of 88% uniform pine forest in Brandenburg into a near-natural biodiverse forest. By doing so, the project avoids and removes over 23,000 tons of CO₂ emissions over 30 years from the atmosphere, preparing the forest for future climatic conditions.
The following activities are financed and implemented as part of the climate project:Planting multiple diverse, climate-resilient tree species such as fir, douglas fir, oak, beech, birch, maple, linden or hornbeam.Support the natural rejuvenation of young trees.Improve wildlife management.By implementing these activities, the Luckaitz Valley project drives regional climate protection, while strengthening biodiversity and contributing to society reaching the Paris Agreement.
NOTE to buyers: Thanks to an ex-ante forward purchase agreement, tonnage is 'issued' and available at the time of project deployment — in expectation of future carbon removal set to occur from the time of deployment through the course of the project's lifetime (>25 years). The project has been deployed (forest adaptation started), but the entirety of the carbon removal process has not yet been completed. Pina will deliver a certificate confirming the purchase and provide updates related to carbon dioxide removal rates as data becomes available. Ex-ante carbon credits may not be suited for common climate claims. Reach out to Patch if you have questions about which climate claims would be suitable for these credits.
