プロジェクト概要

The project activity involves the operation of 15,100 household biogas plants (bio-digesters) in Haryana state, India. All bio-digesters are 3 meter-by-3 meter capacity, and are of the Deenbandhu model. The purpose of the project is to replace commonly used, inefficient wood-fired mud stoves technology, with clean, sustainable, and efficient biogas.
Each household utilizes cow dung to feed the digester for the production of biogas for cooking purposes and heating water. In addition, the hygienic conditions in the rural areas will be improved by appropriate disposal of organic waste. Further, residue from the bio-digesters can be used as organic fertilizer, and will improve soil conditions in rural areas leading to an increase in soil productivity.
The estimated annual emission reductions over a 7-year period from initial project activity instances are 43,885 tonnes of tCO2/year. The current monitoring period is from October 1, 2020 to November 30, 2021.
