This project developed by AgriCapture consists of preserving grasslands in Bailey County, Texas in their natural state for a minimum of 150 years by ensuring no tillage for commercial crop cultivation takes place. In the absence of this easement, the baseline assumes that the land would have been converted into croplands for crop production.
The property comprises an area of land dominated by native or introduced grass species with little to no tree canopy and includes woody shrubs, legumes, forbs, and other non-woody vegetation. It meets the definition of a grassland property and is suitable for conversion to crop cultivation. The conservation easement will be held by Texas Agricultural Land Trust and will cover the entire project area. The property is privately owned and was so prior to the project start date. It has been in a state that meets the definition of a grassland for a period of 30+ years. AgriCapture will report emission reductions on a yearly basis and verify emission reductions by way of third-party audit on a yearly or bi-yearly basis.
