Vichada Climate Reforestation

プロジェクト概要
The project, situated in the Vichada Department within the Orinoco river basin in Colombia, aims to combine reforestation efforts with biodiversity protection and ecosystem restoration. In a region previously characterized by savannah landscapes, the project employs a mix of reforestation and afforestation activities to transform degraded lands. These forests not only facilitate sustainable timber production but also serve as carbon sinks, mitigating the greenhouse effect. In addition to Acacia sp., Pinus sp., and Eucalyptus sp., the project participants are also investigating the seeding, development, and planting of native species in the region to support the transition from degraded areas into a forested area. The project developers foster socio-economic development through regional employment opportunities, education initiatives, and collaboration with local communities and NGOs.
