プロジェクト概要
On a mission to revolutionize the chocolate industry's carbon footprint while promoting agricultural sustainability in Ghana, this project is a join effort in between Planboo and Tachibana.
In collaboration with smallholder cacao farmers in the Denkyira West District, the project transforms cocoa pods into high-quality biochar using kon-tiki kilns. By leveraging waste from cocoa pods, the project reduces environmental impact while contributing to soil health and crop productivity.
This initiative addresses critical environmental and social challenges, including carbon emissions, soil degradation, and agricultural sustainability. By repurposing cocoa pod waste into biochar, the project mitigates CO₂ emissions and promotes regenerative agriculture practices.
Over the next five years, the project is set to remove 11,100 tonnes of CO₂ from the atmosphere, making a significant contribution to climate change mitigation in Ghana. The commitment to environmental integrity is reinforced through rigorous verification processes, ensuring the additionality and permanence of carbon removal efforts.
Planboo's dMRV (digital monitoring, reporting, and verification) tool tracks the carbon, costs, and co-benefits associated with the project to ensure transparent and high-quality credits.
