Waste Handling and Disposal
Industrial Processes
プロジェクト概要
CoreZero is unleashing the value of Zero Waste to tackle climate change, developing solutions that turn waste into value while boosting food-waste minimization and valorization initiatives.
For this project, CoreZero has partnered with the Mexican Foodbanking Network, a Mexico-based civic society organization that addresses food insecurity by rescuing surplus nutritious food and donating it to those in need. The project activity effectively avoids greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, notably methane, by diverting food and unsold goods from disposal via landfills or incinerators. These items—discarded due to aesthetic flaws, short expiration dates, or overstock—are instead either commercialized or donated through a network of social organizations. This not only prevents unnecessary waste and GHG emissions, but also provides valuable food assistance to communities in need, reducing their alimentation gap and improving health.
The expected amount of reduced carbon emissions is 150,000 tCO2e annually.
