The objectives for this Planboo biochar project are twofold. First, the project will sequester vast amounts of carbon from the atmosphere to positively impact the global climate crisis. Second, this biochar project aims to improve and rejuvenate soil health and crop productivity by increasing its water holding capacity and resilience to drought. This will reduce agro-chemical use and emissions in Thai agriculture, accelerating the sustainable management of bamboo biomass, and increasing the number of green jobs in the industry.
This biochar project will thus tackle Thailand’s environmental challenges while revolutionizing the agricultural industry. Through this collaboration, the project is set to make a lasting impact through the removal of thousands of tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere using the power of biochar and Planboo’s state-of-the-art technology. This will in turn demonstrate the environmental benefits of biochar production and application, and will generate a scalable, more sustainable agricultural industry in Thailand that redistributes biomass waste into vital carbon removal credits. {Accredited auditor ISO 17029 (Finexfi for 2022).}
